Official Tournaments

Eligible players in official tournaments:

    Most of our tournaments are open to all players, without restriction. Players may participate in as many tournaments as they wish, as frequently as they wish.
    Some tournaments are age-restricted, which means only players of a certain age may participate. For example, the UDE Scholarship Series is restricted to players age 17 and under.
    People who meet the following criteria may not participate in THS tournaments:

• Players who have been suspended by UDE, WotC, Bandai or any other parent company of said sanctioned game because of policy violations.

• Players who have been banned from either THS or The Wilson Mall.

Players must bring the following materials to a tournament:

• For Constructed tournaments, a deck that follows all deck construction rules.

• A pen or pencil, to fill out match result slips.

• A method to track game scores and status. This can be a calculator, life counter, pen and paper, or another reliable tracking method.

•  A copy of his or her personal membership number (once listed in our computer a copy is no longer necessary). If a player does not have a membership number, we will provide one for the player at no charge.

• Identification to present when registering for a tournament.

Player responsibilities:

• Know and follow the most current and applicable rules and tournament policies to their game.

• Bring all necessary materials for their game.

• Follow instructions of any judge or tournament official.
• Ensure they pre-registered for a membership number for the game they are participating in.
• Act in a respectful & sportsmanlike manner while at, or near, the store.
• Clearly communicate each move that they make during game play.
• Keep their hands and cards above the table during matches.
• Notify an opponent if he or she fails to follow any game rules or incorrectly tracks game score or life totals during a match, regardless of whom the error benefits.
• Avoid swearing or using inappropriate language or gestures.
• Avoid wearing inappropriate or offensive clothing.
• Avoid making offensive comments to any player or official.
• Avoid insulting opponents or opponents’ strategies and play skills.
• Maintain accurate contact information with the store.

Tournament formats:

• Constructed Deck: Each player brings their own pre-built deck to the event following the banned list from their specific game.
• Sealed Deck: Each player constructs a deck from a limited number of packs provided at the beginning of the event.
• Booster Draft:  Each player drafts a deck by selecting cards from a series of booster packs which are passed around amongst players. 

Prizes:

• During regular weekly tournaments prizes are awarded according to the number of participants. (i.e. for every four players in attendance there is one prize pack). If there are 8 or more players, the judge will decide on prize split.
• During special tournaments (i.e. $100 Tournaments, Box Tournaments, etc.) prizes will be listed on tournament flyers.
• In some cases game manufacturers supply promo cards, playmats, T-Shirts, and other items for prize support. THS will always endeavor to distribute such items in accordance to the manufacturer's instructions.

 Players and tournament officials may not wager on the outcome of any tournament matches.
The Hobby Shop does not allow the loss of cards due to a game or round loss.
